Earthquake Brace + Bolt Program

Over two years ago I was approached to participate in the California Earthquake Bolt and Brace Pilot Program. The first job was quite different than the experience we have today.

Excellent communication, including quick answers to questions. Everything was timely, managed professionally including uploading information to brace and bolt, getting the building permit and completing the work. Our place was left tidier than we left it. Overall our experience was a seamless and very easy one. Would unequivocally recommend him and his team to anyone.

We learned about Rick through the Eartquake Brace Bolt (EBB) program.  He is very experienced with work that qualifies under the program and helped us navigate the system to ensure that we receive the maximum allowable refund.   Our retrofitting project with completed without issue in about one-week, with two of Rick's men working about 9-5pm.  I'd highly recommend working with Rick.

We worked with Rick and his team to renovate a Craftsman home in Berkeley to make it accessible for my husband following a stroke. They also renovated the garage to create an accessible family room, office and laundry room.  Rick and his team are incredible.  Their workmanship is excellent, the project was completed on time and under budget and we love the results.

Seismic Retrofitting

I am often asked if seismic retrofitting is a practical or worthy expense to invest in a house. The best way I have come to answer the question is keeping in mind a few facts from our past earthquakes. The 1906 quake was a 7.9 and lasted somewhere between 60-90 seconds. The Loma Prieta quake lasted about 8-15 seconds and was a 6.9.
